In urban hospitals, intensive care units are close to the limit. However, an expansion is possible.

In the hospitals of the Vienna Health Association, 197 employees are currently infected with the coronavirus. This was reported by a spokeswoman to the APA on Tuesday. With a staff of about 30,000 and the often very exposed situation of the affected persons, this number is not very high, she was assured.

The situation regarding intensive care beds is still serious. In the municipal hospitals, 148 intensive care beds out of 150 are currently occupied. That is however at least no increase in relation to yesterday, Monday, as was stressed. The number of intensive care beds can be further expanded – although here, however, planned interventions would have to be postponed further successively.

There is also general prohibition in all Viennese hospitals. There are exceptions, for example, for underage patients, pregnant women or mothers with newborns as well as for people in critical life situations. Outpatient clinics or emergency rooms should only be visited when medically absolutely necessary.
